I’ve been trying to understand where AI genuinely fits in product design beyond just quick mockups or brainstorming. In our team, we started experimenting with AI for early-stage UX exploration, but it quickly became clear that the value isn’t really in generating screens—it’s in how fast we can move from vague ideas to something testable. While reading more about how companies approach this shift in structured environments, I came across this breakdown of AI in product design workflows: https://www.trinetix.com/insights/ai-product-design. It made me wonder whether AI is actually changing the structure of design teams, or if it’s just making existing stages faster without really changing how decisions are made. What do you think—does it reshape the process or just accelerate it?

I’m not directly involved in product design, but I sit in meetings where design and engineering decisions get discussed, so I see how these tools affect communication between teams. What stands out to me is that AI has made it easier for non-designers to participate earlier in the process because concepts are more visual and easier to understand quickly. At the same time, it also creates more opinions early on, which sometimes slows down final alignment. So while the tools are meant to speed things up, they also shift where the discussion bottlenecks happen. Instead of waiting for designs, teams now spend more time aligning on which direction is actually worth pursuing.
